In the Urban Poetry series, Fragola de la Vega transforms the urban landscape into a territory of reverie and balance. Her works are born of photographic prints, where the eye lingers on the essential: a vast sky, building roofs, electrical cables, lampposts, cranes or chimneys - so many familiar silhouettes that make up the discreet poetry of everyday life.
On these fragments of the city, the artist hand-draws her characters: suspended beings, female or animal figures, in silent dialogue with the urban landscape. Often balanced, they seem to float between two worlds - that of reality, anchored in photography, and that of dreams, drawn with an instinctive gesture.
Through this delicate layering, Fragola de la Vega brings forth a poetry of vertigo and lightness, where the city becomes an inner space ; open to metamorphosis and dreams.
